Tlacoya doesn’t demand attention.
She doesn’t need to.
Calm, confident, and impossible to ignore, she carries herself with the quiet certainty of someone who knows exactly who she is.
The others may run first.
But everyone eventually looks to see what Tlacoya is doing.
And yes, she absolutely expects kisses.
Tlacoya was one of five abandoned puppies we found together in 2025.
From the beginning, there was something different about her.
While her sisters charged into every situation at full speed, Tlacoya often preferred to observe first, think second, and act third.
Less than a year later, she’s become the steady center of the group.
Brave without being reckless.
Affectionate without being demanding.
Elegant without even trying.
She reminds us of Garnacha in many ways, carrying the same quiet confidence, gentle nature, and unmistakable presence.
Some dogs fill a room with noise.
Tlacoya fills it with character.
The World According To Tlacoya
Tiny Gremlin
Before she became a graceful young lady, Tlacoya dedicated herself to a very different profession.
Destroying cardboard.
No box was safe.
No corner remained untouched.
No shipping package survived the encounter.
She was small.
Her ambitions were not.
Serious, Not Serious
People often assume Tlacoya is the serious one.
And they’re right.
Right up until she starts making funny faces, zooming across the house, or inventing games nobody else understands.
She’s thoughtful.
She’s dignified.
She’s also having a great time.
The Look
Tlacoya has mastered the art of communication without making a sound.
A glance can mean curiosity.
A glance can mean affection.
A glance can mean she’s judging your decisions.
Nobody knows for sure.
What we do know is that her favorite observation post is the living room rug.
Ebony Queen
Elegant.
Fearless.
Graceful.
Soft as velvet and impossible to overlook.
Tlacoya carries herself with the confidence of a dog who knows she belongs exactly where she is.
And honestly, she’s probably right.
